Box Me Up!

I’ve been finding a pattern for a DIY box for a while now and have finally found one. I needed the perfect box size for some personalized notepads I made to be sent out to some people. There’s actually a lot of free printable patterns for all sorts and sizes of boxes available online. Anyway, I wanted the design the boxes with my favorite theme: AIRMAIL! and of course some fashion and stationery stuff. I love how it all turned out!

I didn’t add anymore design to this box because the fashion illustration is bold enough. I saw this illustration in tumblr and just knew I had to get it for designing. (FYI, my designs with illustrations from other sources are not for sale but for personal use so it’s not illegal).

Skinny jeans speak sexy! I aimed for the theme of casual, sexy and laid back.

I forgot the designer who illustrated this but it was so cool when I stumbled upon and just had to make it as my wallpaper months ago. There’s actually a lot more designs for a set of cards.

I aimed for the girly with an edge for this box’s theme and just loved how it turned out with just simple designs.

I love doing DIY crafts, especially these boxes! I’m used to doing scrapbooks that’s why I guess it never leaves me even if I’m designing for other stuff. Can’t wait to send these out!

Hello Puerto Galera!

Hello Puerto Galera! I went there last May with one of my best friends, Winchell and her boyfriend and little sister. It was my official beach vacation after graduating college and it was supposed to be a ‘barkada’ trip but all of a sudden the other girls can’t make it but of course, there was no stopping me and Win to enjoy such vacation! I’m glad that when we went there weren’t so many people yet and had the chance to really chill with the white sands!

After over an hour of bus ride to Batangas, we had a 45-minute boat ride to the Puerto Galera White Sands beach and believe me it felt like it lasted for hours. Although the boat ride going to the beach was a bit exciting but the ride home felt like hours on the  water and I was even starting to feel sick. Still, I do love riding boats, it’s just that I don’t think I’ll last for a day out in the sea haha!

It was my first time getting a henna tattoo done and it just had to be a mermaid! The artist even had to do an impromptu one because all of the mermaid images in their book were real creepy and I only wanted a normal and ‘fairytale’ like. Here’s a better look of the henna tattoo below:

Ain’t the tattoo cool? I’ve always wanted a mermaid tat, but of course not a permanent one! We had real fun in the beach although it was only a 3 day and 2 night stay but still my summer was definitely complete with this trip!

Playing in the water always seems fun! We just had to take pictures with the beautiful sunset as our background!

We also went kayaking and although it was my second time already, I got a bit nervous when Win and I went a bit too far because I’m really afraid of deep waters. When we got back to shore to rest a bit, we had to ask a guide to come with us since we can’t really get a hold of maneuvering the boat. The paddles were so heavy! Still, the experience was fun!

Winchell and I have been bestfriends since we were in elementary and I’m really glad that over the years our friendship just became stronger! Love this girl to death!

I think we all gained weight in  this mini vacation of ours. The food was not really cheap but we gotta enjoy it and enjoy we did!

There were fire dance performances during the night and since all the food places were beach front, you could enjoy your dinner while you watch the fire dancers do their thing. They were really awesome!

Definitely had an awesome time with this girl, my beach buddy!

Ever since I was a child, fairytales are one of my most favorite things. I guess I’m the typical girl who loves princesses, princes and happy endings but it’s actually more than that. What I love most about fairytales are the magic and mystery they have.

I’m glad that recently a lot of movies and tv shows are adapting fairytales, and making them darker is just more interesting. I have just finished watching the tv series, “Grimm” and it has certainly drawn me in completely. The story revolves around a detective who comes from a line of hunters called the Grimms. If you were ever a child, you must know about the Grimm brothers, they have like a hundred children’s tales of which some are very famous: Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Snow White and a lot lot more.

The show placed in a modern plot makes the fairytales more realistic. What makes fairytales so famous is because it gives people hope, both to children and adults. This show is really a must-see and I myself really can’t wait fir the second season.

In the meantime, I’m on to another fairytale tv series adaptation, “Once Upon a Time” where the lead character is actually Snow White’s daughter. More on that when I finish the series.

Letter Lovin’

Don’t you just love my header image? Haha! Kidding! I’m just proud of it although if I get new ideas in the future, I know I’ll be changing it up again. Since I blabbered my love of writing letters in my first post, I decided to write about some of the letters I’ve received in the span of a year’s time. I just love it whenever I find letters in my mailbox, it just really makes my day even if it had started with a bad vibe.

I took a picture of all the letters I have in my letter box and these are all from only late 2011 to the present so it had just been about a year. What more in the coming years? I’m getting excited already! Do pardon me for the bad quality of the image, our camera just had to die when I was about to take pictures so I had to resort to my camera phone.

I love it when people send me letters with cute and vintage stationery designs, it actually makes my reading of them more heartfelt haha! While I was taking pictures a while ago, I even thought of posting all my stationery stuff too but that had to need a longer time since they are way too many. I buy a lot of them and hardly use those that I really love so I would resort to buying two of the same kind which would actually leave me with empty pockets. So now I’m actually learning to really use them (without buying a second one) because I know that the person who will receive it would appreciate it as much as I treasure it.

Here’s some of my letters with cool designs.

This is my first penpal letter and it’s from England! I love my friend’s hometown in Brighton and I hope to be able to visit it someday.

When I saw this letter, I freaked! It was the time when I was so obsessed with the Korean drama, Boys Over Flowers! My college best friend, Apple really knows what suits me!

Ain’t this just so cute! I just got this mini letter a while ago from one of my best friends and twin, Mamie! She’s one of the people whom I’ve receive most letters from and I just love her for that. She’s also a great photographer and her blog is amazing!

Rilakkuma letters! Now this I have a lot in stash, and of course only one of the same kind and they are just some of the stuff I can’t really bear to use YET! :))

I just love stationery with Paris designs! I really have to go to France someday to see the Eiffel tower!

I don’t know if you can see the envelope but its design is actually of the world map and I instantly fell in love with it when I received it.

The design on this mini letter is very simple and vintage, which I really love! The vintage brown suitcase is one of my favorite designs on stationery and I really would buy a real one in the future!

Those are just some of my awesome letters and if I’d feature my stationery collection, it would take me all day to take pictures of them but I’ll do it in the near future! Letter writing has also prompted me to do my own stationery designs which I make for my friends on special occasions. Unfortunately, my laptop had to be reformatted and all the files disappeared, including my creations huhuhu 😦 I’ll post some of the pictures from my friends next time though.

Write to someone special today and make them know how much they mean to you. And if you’d like to find penpals across the country, there are actually a lot of sites up on the web that help you find one. I got mine from Pen Pals Now! and if safety is your concern, you just have to pick the right person. In my case, before I put up my info on the page, I searched for a suitable penpal first and actually found one. A lot of emails come by at some times asking to be a penpal and you’d actually know if they are serious or not so you just really have to go with your guts!

Hello world!

Hello World! This is actually the title that the theme suggested when I chose to apply it to my new blog and a bit appropriate since I’m starting a new virtual world of mine. Okay, I’m just lazy to think of a title. I suck at it, believe me. I’ve actually blogged before but none really came out productive since I made it too personal I guess, so I stuck with my journal. Yet now, I’ve decided to blog about the things I love, to share interesting stuff I discover and to just write. Although I don’t know if anyone would read my blog but hey, it’s okay I guess.

Anyway, I am a dreamer who writes hence the name of the blog. I right now love penpalling, it’s old school, I know but for people like me who values the written word never think of it as something old but as something treasured. I had just started it late last year and it was all inspired by my mom and her penpal from India, I think. Her friend came to the Philippines a couple years back and at that time, I was amazed of how such things could happen, I mean having found a new friend from a different culture through writing. I was a young child at that time.

I had always wanted to try it long ago but never knew where to really find a penpal at that time. My mom told me that in her times, the newspaper had a section where you could find penpals and could also submit your info so another could find you also. That was neat! Of course now, everything is available in the internet and so I googled it and there!

My first penpal is from England and she’s my age who also likes watching Korean dramas like I do so we got along really well. I found a lot more penpals through tumblr. Just talking to a random person through letters feel so uplifting and fulfilling. A lot of times I even feel like I can say everything to that person just because he or she is someone not around me and that I can express what I REALLY feel.

Writing is a way of relaxation and de-stressing. Even more when you write a letter and receive one back.

I just love it when I find letters and postcards in my mailbox! And everytime I do, I just have to open them at once. Many people have forgotten the meaning of hand writing a letter to someone and how it wonderful it makes a person feels.

Writing stories, poems and letters will always be a part of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing it even if my professional career takes a left turn. Writing is for me and when I write for myself, that’s when a masterpiece is made.
